Government of Niger and Unicef endorse the Charter

Nigerien Minister for Population, Women and Children, Maikibi Kadidiatu Dandobi, signed up to the Charter to End Extreme Hunger today showing her Government’s commitment to tackling the root causes of food crises that affect both West and East Africa.

Earlier in the week Unicef’s Executive Director, Anthony Lake, also expressed his support for the objectives of the Charter.

“The proposed actions are very important, especially in light of the alarming situation in the Sahel.  I strongly support the goal of the Charter to prevent unnecessary death and suffering due to food crises, and am also mindful of the critical importance of strengthening nutrition programmes to properly nourish children in early life.”
